Coach David spent his childhood summers at Spotswood and swam for the Sea Serpents for 10 years. He shares, "this is where I learned to swim, and I want to continue the culture of excellence and kindness that I was welcomed into all those years ago." Coach David's favorite stroke is backstroke.
Coach David is an elementary Physical Education teacher in Stafford County. He is thankful for the support of his wife, Lori, his daughter, Emma, and their two dogs, Lizzie Bennet and Willoughby. He enjoys running, hiking, football, reading, cooking, and eating during his time away from Spotswood.
Coach Melody is beyond excited for another terrific summer with the best team in the RSL. After moving to Fredericksburg in 2016, she was looking for a summer swim program for her 5 young children and quickly fell in love with the families and culture at Spotswood. As a former swimmer (which we call a "swammer"), who enjoyed the backstroke and IM events, she feels immensely privileged to pour back into the people, pool, and sport which has given her so much. When she is not at Spotswood, you can find her grocery shopping, ubering her children to various places across the region, doing laundry, loading and unloading the dishwasher, and teaching elementary school in Stafford County.
Coach Kyleigh rejoins the Sea Serpents as our Assistant Coach for the 2025 Summer season! She swam for 14 years at Spotswood, served as a junior coach, swam for eight years on the Tsunami Swim Team, and for four years on the Massaponax High School Varsity Swim Team. Her favorite stroke is butterfly. Coach Kyleigh returns to assist the Spotswood Swim Team this year because she loves working with the Spotswood community. She is excited to spend her summer with the team she spent 14 years with!
During the off-season, Coach Kyleigh is a student at the University of Mary Washington. She has two brothers, Trevor & Tyler, who are also Sea Serpents, and three cats: Nova, Pepper, and Cece. Coach Kyleigh loves to read so if you have any recommendations, send them her way!
